Member of the Mahi tribe from the African nation Nagô, former slave and revolutionist.
Mahin was captured as a slave and transported to Brazil. She was a major instigator and participant of the slave uprisings in the 1830's, including the Revolt of Malês (1835), the largest rebellion in Bahia.
Mother to Luis Gama, poet and abolitionist (1830-1882).
In April 2019, Mahin was entered into the book of Heroes and Heroines of the Dandara.
